How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign treatment has been around since the 1980s but it has only recently gained popularity among the masses. Clear aligners are clear plastic orthodontic braces which are a hard wearing, clear plastic type of cosmetic dental braces used mainly to adjust teeth misalignment. Unlike the metal, clear braces allow patients to see the brackets are moved by the wearer's own muscles. Because the wearer's own muscles are moving the braces, there is no chance of the patient accidentally pushing the aligner out of alignment, like they would if wearing metal braces. Instead, when the patient drinks or consumes something that pulls or moves the aligner out of alignment, they will notice that the new aligned position looks just as good as their old one.

The main advantage to Invisalign treatment is that it does not take away the teeth from the natural crooked or squared shape. This allows patients to have a straight, perfectly symmetrical smile without having to wear traditional metal braces. Another advantage to Invisalign treatment is that the process is painless for both the patient and the dentist. The process is so painless that many patients report having a gentle massage right before and after the treatment.

Invisalign treatment begins with the dentist creating invisalign Mesa AZ treatment plan for each patient. These plans are sent to the patient through the use of ClearStep clear vinyl adhesive. The adhesive is placed on the front of the teeth so that the wearer does not have to worry about them moving while they are wearing the aligners. Once the vinyl adhesive has adhered to the tooth, the wearer simply removes the aligners, removes the removable aligners, places them in their mouth, and puts the new aligners in place. The dentist then attaches the ClearStep to each bracket on the patient's teeth so that the process is a seamless one.

Patients generally need several weeks between wisdom teeth removal in Auburn treatments and between cleanings. This time is generally broken up into three factors: the first day the Invisalign treatment is applied, the first day the retainers are removed, and the first week after the removal of the retainers. Invisalign treatments must stay on the teeth for at least six months to be effective. This period of time is to ensure that the materials used in the creation of the Invisalign aligners can remain on the teeth long enough to create a lasting change in the alignment of the teeth. During the first month, the Invisalign treatment will only be visible when the patient smiles widely. At this time, the Invisalign treatment will look very similar to standard braces, so patients will not be able to tell the difference between the two.

Invisalign treatment requires a minimum of six months between treatment sessions. This is because the materials used in the manufacturing of the Invisalign aligners need to be allowed to become ingrained in the teeth and gums. The materials will not cause any harm to the teeth or gums, but without constant treatment, it may be possible for the treatment to be rendered useless in as little as a month. As long as patients follow the Invisalign treatment instructions and visit their dentists at least once every three months, they should be able to wear Invisalign aligners for the full six months time frame. Patients must also take care when eating foods that have been recommended to avoid rapid advancement of the aligners. Invisalign is an excellent way to correct misaligned teeth, but it must be treated every six weeks under the direction of a dentist. This process is meant to ensure that the materials used in the Invisalign treatment plan will stay on the teeth and tongue for the full duration of the treatment. Failure to keep the treatment plan in place can result in the materials loosening, moving out of position, and eventually breaking.
